Zipline in Minnesota with Sand Creek Adventures

Ziplining in Minnesota??

I was searching for a fun birthday activity for my husband this year and stumbled across Sand Creek Adventures. Instead of our usual birthday escape room, I booked a surprise ziplining adventure. My boys and I managed to keep it a secret from him until the day of. I think that’s a secret keeping record for our house!

Sand Creek Adventures

Sand Creek Adventures is located less than an hour from the Twin Cities and its zipline adventure consists of three lines over the gorgeous Sand Creek. It has over 1,600 feet of zipline to fly on and you can choose to do the course one or two times through.

They are located at: 3101 W 220th Street, Jordan, MN

Check out their website HERE.

In previous years they also offered a High Ropes course but due to staffing levels in 2021, they had to put it on hold.

Okay Cool but how Much is it?

I found it very reasonably priced at $39-49 per person (once through the course) or $59-69 (twice through). Check their website for up to date pricing.

Can Kids Zipline?

The minimum age is set at 8, with a minimum weight of 70 pounds. This weight requirement is to ensure little ones don’t get stuck halfway through the line (this could be a problem on a windy day with a lightweight kid). The max weight is 250. Sand Creek does say on their website though that these numbers are flexible and exceptions can be made.

Is it Safe?

We ziplined in Mexico a few years ago and it was amazingly fun but also kind of terrifying! Not only was their equipment questionable, we had to do the brakes ourselves, using a gloved hand. Since we went on a rainy day, it made for some pretty horrendous braking experiences. The kids had to ride attached to a guide because they didn’t have the strength to stop themselves.

Sand Creek does the work for you so you don’t have to stress about the brakes! They slow you down safely so you can just enjoy the ride! That means kids get to ride solo here, which was super fun for them!

Not only do you get a safety demonstration at the start, all the equipment was in great condition and they double check everything for you before they send you off down the line.

Was it Worth it?

If you’re on the fence about booking this, my advice is to GO FOR IT! Life is too short. This may scare you a little but in the best way! Plus, in my opinion, gifting experiences far outweighs giving actual gifts.

Another bonus is that they stay open until the platforms get too snowy/icy so you may still have some time to get there this year before winter really sets in!

A huge thanks to the awesome staff at Sand Creek Adventures for an amazing day!

Have you been ziplined before? Please comment below and let me know if this is something you’d love to do or would they have to pry your body off the platform?
